Untitled Zombie Short
My untitled zombie short idea came to me after watching the scene from Juan Fresnadillo’s 2007 sequel film ’28 Weeks Later’. In this film, Robert Carlyles character ‘Don’ escapes his home from a horde of zombies but leaves his wife and son in the house to die at the hands of the infected. This scene inspired me to do something similar however it follows a son and his father who is a strongly religious priest. A zombie infection has recently struck and the streets and running rampant with zombies, the father being an overly religious man believes that these are demons sent by Satan himself and that they must pray to relieve them from the hell that awaits. The son feels uncomfortable with the idea and questions whether he should or not. A zombie begins to break through the front door and the father is shouting at his son to pray with him, screaming it at him even. The zombie finally breaks through the door and the son runs to the back door leading into the garden and locks it shut behind him, leaving his father to die at the hand of the zombie. The son then leaves through the back garden garage and flees into the back alley while a horde of zombies charge towards him, gaining on him. It then cuts to an older son, now in his early 20s, returning to his home. He steps inside and finds his father, now turned into a zombie, the son pulls out a blood stained machete, says a prayer and finally ends his father suffering.
Untitled Animated Short Series
The animated short idea came to after I had sketched up some random characters that I had made up when I was in my drug phase. The animated series follows a man who has a TV for a head and his life, dealing with his literal drug friends who are anthropomorphic drugs, one of them being a Mushroom who gets high from consuming bits of himself. The series has some dark tones, mainly with drugs use and subject matters. The idea is not completely solid at the time of writing this as I only have some characters created and no actual story or worlds created yet. It will be a 5 short episode series that will be put onto YouTube, with The Big Lez Show being an inspiration and also a YouTube series I thought I could do the same.
A TUN of Cells, Genes, and Behaviours
This is a documentary which follow a Welsh Band called TUN. They are a Psychedelic Instrumental Rock band originating in Aberdare, South Wales where the band was forged in ‘The Shed’. The documentary will go through their lives and how they came to meet and create TUN, going through any life problems they have dealt with (specifically my uncle), how TUN has helped them since it began, following them on gigs, practices and general sessions. The piece is entirly biographical and factual with only their names being fictional as they go by their ‘character’ names. For example my uncle Gene’s character is ‘Genes’ who carries a bag of genetics on them and takes the genetics from other people and places them in his bag. Even though they will be presenting themselves as their characters, they will not be acting as their characters, although the way they act natural will make you think they are just playing characters. Even though this is for a final major project, this is also a passion project and I hope it turns out well if I do make it.
Why did I not choose C0DE:PKD/?
During my Level 2 course of college I created a trailer from a short film idea I had called ‘C0DE:PKD/’ for my final major project that year. The idea was highly inspired by Blade Runner and The Matrix, and I would even say too much. I have wanted to go back to the project and create the full short film as I really enjoyed creating the trailer, however I strongly believe I would need to re visit the original idea and do a lot of changes and re work the entire storyline, and because of this I think that this is something I should save until I have the technology and equipment to do justice to the piece, as with its highly futuristic world and subject matter I could not make it look how I envision it in my head at my current skill level and with the equipment I have access to.
My Final Idea
I have decided that I will be creating the documentary titled ‘A TUN of Cells, Genes, and Behaviours’. Why I have decided to do the documentary instead of the other ideas I had was because this is also a passion project for me and not just work for college. I also feel that a lot of the other ideas should be done at a later time as I need to improve my skills, get better equipment, a team of people to help with certain forms of work etc so they can all be as I envisioned them to be. I also want to span out into documentary filmmaking as I have just been mainly doing short films and aiming to create a full motion picture, however documentary filmmaking has slowly grown on me and I have gained a stronger interest in the form. Hopefully I can create the work needed to achieve the grade I am looking for, whilst also creating a documentary that my uncle will be happy and grateful for.
Proposal
Time Schedule
I have had to show my Proposal and Production Schedule in the form of images as WordPress will not allow me to upload the actual file, for security reasons. I will include the Proposal and Production Schedule in a folder contain all of the work I create over time and the final piece itself. I will be following this production schedule as best as I can because I have been known in the past for poor time management, and leaving work to the last minute however, with this I will be able to improve on my time management and prepare myself for University and Industry level work, where creating work just from your head and not placing every detail down on paper first is not an option. I believe that this final major project will be a benefit to me in my preperation for University.
