Today I looked over the different scripts options and decided on which one would be best for me to create. To decide this I thought over in my head what resources I have at my disposal and what ones I have the most creativity over etc. Originally I was going to do the vitamins advertisement because I live with my nan and my grandad and I can use any vitamins and tablets that they take as the prop for the vitamins, however I felt like I could not be as creative as much as I wanted to or tweak the original script in anyway. After this I decided to go with the Texas Home Security script because I could alter the script to be funnier and more creative with it still having the basic needs of an advertisement and still keeping some of the plot lines from the original script.

I began researching into different Home Security advertisements such as Ring, Ooma and Broadview Security. I did not like the Ring and Ooma advertisements as they were too long and we too similar with each other. The Ring advertisement reused a lot of the same video clips to extend its length so that they could give a more in depth explanation about all of the products features however I felt like that it was too much and too long and the audience would skip the advertisement or even ignore it for its length, I was ready to turn it off after the 1 minute mark. However the Broadview Security ad was the only one I liked due to it dramatising a realistic scenario that the security system would be used in, and gives all the information you need about the product in under a minute. So with this I then planned out the plot of the advertisement in my head and began to think on how I would frame up shots, location, actors etc.

This week I began creating a Storyboard for my advertisement which I would then scan into the computer and used the scanned storyboard to create an animatic. The animatic is used as a video form of storyboard to see if everything fits to the time frame and to be able to see the compositions and framing before going ahead and creating a test shot for the piece.

I began creating a animatic using stock images of people off of the internet, placing them into photoshop where they would be in the scene, trace over them with the paint tool and place them all into separate layers. Doing this allowed me to create the animatic much quicker have a better composition and framing than me drawing it on paper first and then photo scanning them in. Also it would give the images more of a realistic look, making it easier for people to follow rather than having stick figures moving around in a frame.

I have now began writing a script that is easier to follow for myself and the actors in the scenes. It does still follow the structure of the original scripts but with my own twists to give me more creative control. However, this does not affect the brief of the project as I still am covering the basic needs of the advertisement and I do understand that in a business scenario I will have to work to the exact terms of the task that has been given to me.
