Unit 9

Post Production

In the first 3 shots of the both my advertisements I have created they begin with spotlight shots of the Heinz Beanz can from different angles and distances. I did this as a way to show off the can in a celebratory way, I was inspired from the 20th Century Fox opening logo seen in films where spotlights light up the large stone structure of their logo.

Inspiration

There are only small differences from the first draft to the 2nd with them only being that in the first draft the clips are slightly longer than in the 2nd and that they placed in the timeline differently. I shortened them in the second draft as to improve the pacing and the total length of the piece.

As you can tell, when creating this I was inspired by M&S ‘Food Porn’ styled advertisements, where there and no hands in shot, everything is in slow motion and mostly close up etc. The biggest difference between the two drafts is the order of the footage. In the images below they are ordered as the can opens, beans are poured out, beans are landing on the slice of toast, then beans juice drools out. However in the second draft, I ordered it to be the can opens, bean juice drools, beans are poured out and land onto the slice of toast. This gives an improved order and pacing to the shots, I also shortened the clips and got rid of the fading to black with each shot to again shorten the entire length of the project.

Inspiration

There aren’t many differences with the last final 4 shots, they are mostly identical in both drafts, however in the second draft, the zoomed in shot of the fork picking up the beans in ever so slightly zoomed in more and the third shot is shorter only by a little.

Final Video

Evaluation

I enjoyed creating this advert. I had another time of video in mind but due to time constraints I could not achieve the idea. I was told by my tutor and many of my colleagues that the video I have created is not appealing however the way I have spun it and with the lines I have used etc, I believe I have created a successful advertisement whilst also sticking to the brief and what was needed of me, I agree the beans themselves do not look appealing in the ad however when do beans ever look appealing.
